Year 2 - 1
Project Overview
In this module, we were tasked with designing a building from scratch. A requirement was to implement the skills we learnt during our module like pipes for plumbing, wiring and light placements for electrical and vents for air-conditioning.
Learning Experience
This project was done in groups of 6 each person tasked with a level of the building.
The previous module, VDFP, taught us the basics of how to create a building and how to furnish it. This project spiced things up by adding the task of installing ventilation, electrical and plumbing features.
Personally, I am a sucker for symmetry. Which led the development and design of my level.
Something I have learnt from this module is the ability to use AutoDesk's Revit software to design these systems but in addition to that I have also learnt that the best way to learn anything is to practice. This is because this module has practical tests which is done at the end of the semester. These tests make us use what we learnt and apply it in a period of time. Without practising and getting familiar with the tools Revit has one would not be able to work on the test and finish it in time. In order to prepare for this test, I worked on my project. To my surprise, it helped since I was already familiar with the software. All it took was a bit of speed during the test. Thanks to this, I was able to learn quite a bit of the software.
Some pictures to show :)

This is a picture of our plumbing system, our group decided to make our plumbing systems the same as it makes sense that plumbing should be uniform in a building as they are located in the same place for ease of access.

This is a picture of my fire system and some sprinklers. The sprinklers are spread out as much as possible to cover as much ground as possible.

This is a picture about the HVAC system or ventilation system. The purple vents are used to take the air out of the rooms while the blue vents are distributing new and fresh air into the rooms.

This picture is about the wiring and lighting the long lines are wire trays where wires are placed and kept out of view. And the boxes are lighting fixtures to light up the rooms.
